New Mooring For Livin' Nauti'
Livin’ Nauti’ has moved to Columbia Island Marina (CIM), located at the Lyndon B Johnson Memorial Grove, which is bounded by the GW Parkway, the Pentagon, and 395.
The captain of Livin’ Nauti’ has only great things to say about the Washington Marina Management and Staff and will miss their hospitality. In addition, the nice folks of Finished Business and other boaters at the marina will be missed, but hopefully we will see each other on the river. So, why make the change? Well, there are certain factors that made CIM a slightly better choice right now for Livin’ Nauti’, i.e., can’t get under the 14th street bridge at high tide, the long no-wake zone of the channel, driving to the district vs. 10 minutes from the house AND the gym.
The boat is obviously winterized and as of this writing, she actually has de-icers running bow and stern because the Pentagon Lagoon has ice on it! However, April 1 is less than 2 months away. So far, we have been able to dewinterize and take her out the first week of April every year! Later in the spring, Livin’ Nauti’ will host a party to meet our new dockmates and to re-engage with existing friends.

Welcome Back
Livin' Nauti' has returned to the Washington D.C. area.
After an enjoyable summer spent in Baltimore and on the Chesapeake Bay, it was time to bring Livin' Nauti' back to the Potomac River. With winter soon approaching and the necessity to winterize the boat, we decided to bring Livin' Nauti' back here to D.C., which would allow us to monitor the boat more easily. The trip to Baltimore was taking us 1-2 hours each way, and it didn't make sense to us to keep the boat there. With the boat back at Washington Marina on the Washington Channel, Livin' Nauti' is now only 15 minutes from the house.
We did manage to secure a better slip at the marina for the winter. We moved off the T-dock over to a single slip next to the boats of Capital Yacht Charters. We decided to move over there because the slip was more accommodating, the area was more secure, and we're next to the good folks of Finished Business. The slip is also out of the main channel and should provide a safer harbor from the encroaching winter months.
Soon we will begin our task of winterizing the boat - so stay tuned.
Cheers.

New Server
Livin' Nauti' has a new home - technically. Over the weekend, the Website, the Forums, and the Journal were moved to a new server. This came about as a win-win opportunity - a better, faster server at lower monthly cost.
Everything was moved with no changes to the site. The move should have been transparent. If something is not working or a bug is discovered, please contact the crew and we will take care of it.
Thanks for your support.
Cheers.

New Homeport
Livin' Nauti' has completed its search and successfully negotiated a new slip in the Washington D.C. area. Some time during the next 30 days, Livin' Nauti' will move to its new home at the Washington Marina on the Washington Channel.
Several factors encouraged us to find a new slip, but the biggest reason was the lack of security at our current marina. We are currently next to the gas dock – not that we wanted to be there, but it was only slip to accommodate our power requirements. Unfortunately, everybody and their brother has access to the gas dock, knows the keycode for that dock, and frequents our dock like it’s some boat showroom. We have had things disappear off the boat, people walk across the boat, had several boats nearly hit us (within inches), and had our power pedestal knocked off its base. It was time to move.
We have recently joined the National Potomac Yacht Club and hope to make some new friends in the D.C. area.
See you on the water.
Cheers.

I'd Rather Be Boating
"…there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats…or with boats…In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much rather not."
Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows
